  1. I would not buy these at all! What a waste of money for something destroyed like this!

  2. The poor, poor dollies! I may buy, depending on the price and mess... at least send the first to the doll hospital and hope to figure out who that is... :(

  3. No way. I think doing these things to dolls in the first place is disturbing. Sure, I can see if a kid cuts hair and accidentally ruins a wig, but those other things, clearly done by adults? I don't think I'd want to meet them in a dark alley. The people, I mean. Or probably the dolls either! Don't mix Monster High and AG, folks … the two are separate for a reason.

  4. This is a shame someone would do this. The one with Elmer glue is just crazy looking. These are a nightmare:(

  5. Some TLC dolls on eBay ARE fixable (I just fixed a Lanie this week and she looks nearly new! From the matted mess she was, it's a long way!). However, dolls like the one with a wig ripped off and black Sharpie you can't even send to the AG Doll Hospital because if they can't recognize which doll it is, they won't replace the head! That one is a lost cause, unfortunately.

I think all these dolls illustrate the point that AG is made for 8+ NOT little 4 and 5 year olds. I've been in the store several times where you just see poor Kanani's hair ripped to shreds or Julie's ends tattered because some little girl has no clue how to care for her doll, yet her parents bought her this $100+ toy (really, heirloom quality toy) without any thought to how it'd look down the road. This is why AG made Bitty! If I have a future daughter, she's not touching my girls until she's at least that age and has demonstrated that she can care for her things before she gets her own.

Really, it just makes me sad :(

    2. Yes!!! It breaks my heart to see dolls like this. I have to resist the urge to buy them all and send them to the doll hospital. At least build a bear repairs are free.

  6. No I would not buy those dolls. That is so sad! Who would put there dolls in that kind of condition and then try to sell them!

  7. Poor dollies! I got my first AG (agot 7) when I was 2, and she still looks great.

  8. I dunno, I think the first doll is actually kind of funny, if also a little awkward. I'll probably buy a few TLC dolls to turn into boys, but just child to teenage boys. No attempts at marker mustaches or beards xD all of the others though are just creepy and sad, and I can't believe anyone would try to sell the doll in that kind of condition.

  9. *From Julie's doll mom:*

OMG! What is wrong w/ these people? None of them, child or adult, even derserve one of these dolls! I couldn't even imagine treating my babies this way! And trying to sell these? Puh-lease! I doubt if you could even give them away!

  10. I think someone's brother must have gotten hold of the bearded doll. She could probably be fixed if you bought a new head, but no way is she worth $50 as a TLC doll. I tried searching eBay for a doll that needed a make-over, hoping that I could find one to fix up for my niece. (Her family can NOT afford an AG.) But even the worst TLC dolls are beyond our budget, especially when you add in shipping. And believe it or not, some people want to charge $30 or more for shipping!

  11. This is ridiculous! I've just missed a perfect Josefina PM doll for 60$ +15$ shipping, and she was like new!

  12. Almost all of my dolls were eBay rescues or customs, though not this bad. Generally, a custom costs me around $75 total, including shipping and everything. Yes, it's absolutely terrible that someone would ever do this, but they can be fixed. All of the dolls you posted are horribly overpriced and incredibly abused, but there are some great deals out there ;)

    1. Actually, the Sharpie'd doll might be fixable...I have re-wigged AG dolls before and I have a source for doll wigs. I have heard of the AG hospital replacing just eyes and not the head...like Rhonda's Kirsten's silver eye post. If they would, then the rest of the Sharpie *MIGHT* come off with Magic Eraser. The Elmer's glue doll would need a deep cleaning, and then probably eyes replaced after that. And the bearded doll...if Magic Eraser could get the beard off, I might actually consider him for a custom doll.
