Take Part in Molly Tribute

In honor of the Archiving of our beloved Molly McIntire and her best friend Emily Bennett, I will be doing a special "looking back" post. If you would like to have your Molly and Emily featured, please submit a photo (only one please) along with your name and age and what they mean to you. I will include them in a loving tribute.
Thank you!

  4. I've had my Emily since last September, and just yesterday brought Molly home to join her. Unfortunately, what I don't have is a camera, or much skill in photography. My dolls and I are with you in spirit, though....

  6. When I heard that Molly was retiring, I literally cried. The first American Girl catalog I remember vividly contained just four dolls - Felicity, Kirsten, Samantha, and Molly. So Molly is the last of those "original" dolls. I know I had the catalog in the third grade, but by the time my grandma wised up to ordering from it, I was 13. My younger sister got a Kirsten doll. My favorite was Molly, but we decided at the time that maybe I was slightly too old for the doll. She was going to get me the mini doll which had just been introduced but they were sold out I guess. I did get the Molly cookbook. I genuinely thought I was a little too old, but I was still a little sad that I didn't get one. Well, I'm the oldest grandchild, and every granddaughter after got an AG doll from grandma when they were 7.

Now I'm 30 with my own two year old daughter, so I felt a little silly crying about Molly retiring and never having gotten one, I told my husband and asked if it would be silly to ask for a Molly for Christmas? Well, My grandma said that she would make sure I got one for Christmas this year, that she's sorry I didn't get one before. She knows now that anyone can have one.

So now I keep reminding my husband to make sure to help her order it, just in case. I don't want them to run out...

Hoping to add my Molly to the tribute!

    2. You definitely deserve Molly! I feel so sorry for you! I think that no one is ever too old for dolls. My mom thinks that I will stop liking AG when I get into my teenage years, but I know PLENTY of teenagers who still love AG. Even adults! there is no reason to stop liking AG. I really hope you get Molly for Christmas. You deserve her!
I am not very happy that they are retiring Molly and Emily because they are very popular dolls and Emily would add so much diversity to my small collection of 3 dolls! she is exactly what I don't have- short hair, red hair, blue eyes, and a historical.
      Good luck!

    3. Don't feel silly. I just got my own Samantha doll at age 29 last Christmas and I cried I was so happy that my dream finally came true. My daughter has a Bity Baby but I can't wait to get her a real American Girl doll!!

  7. My daughter got Molly in 1991 and when she was in high school her friend gave me her white body Molly. Both are still here at my house waiting for my granddaughter to get a bit older. I always liked Molly because she is an exact contemporary to my mother. My mother even had a hula skirt like Molly's. I am considering Emily but I chose Saige most recently because she seemed like a better value with her pierced ears and her ring. I do love Emily's dress and accessories.
